Way of dwelling in the world - Quran Chapter 24: 27 (Pt-18, Stg-4) (L-2215) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 24: 27 (Pt-18, Stg-4) (L-2215) درس قرآن

Way of dwelling in the world

Chapter “Nuur” – (Light) - 24

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

27.  O ye who believe! Enter not houses other than your own without first announcing your presence and invoking peace upon the folk thereof. That is better for you, that ye may be heedful.
27.  Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina  ‘aa-manuu  laa  tadkhuluu  buyuutan  gayra  buyuutikum  hattaa  tasta’-nisuu  wa  tusallimuu  ‘alaaa  ‘ahlihaa.  Zaalikum  khayrul-lakum  la-‘allakum  tazakkaruun.

Commentary

Tasta’-nisuu – (Announce first your presence!, Ask permission!), origin of this word is ‘istiinaas, which has been derived from the word “‘uns”. ‘Uns means “to meet someone, to talk with”. The words “maanuus, ‘aniis, ‘unsat” have come out from the same. ‘Istiinaas means “to call for meeting”. Here it aims “to wish permission of meeting”.

Which way should human beings choose for mutual friendly intercourse, by which none of them feel any trouble and nor any of them think wrong in any matter? It is the problem in which several people have been erring. Holy Qur’an teaches to dwell in the world in such a way that mischief and disturbance do not spread but the door of indecency is closed.

First thing which is compulsory for the mankind, is that no one should enter in any other’s house without their permission. Before entering he should ask for permission, the best way of which is that from the outside of the door, he should say loudly: ‘Assalaamu  ‘alaykum  ‘ahlal- bayti (Peace with you O the people of the house). And it should be said when he reaches in front but standing on any side of the door, because it is possible that the door is opened and his sight sees any such thing, looking of which was not suitable for him.

There is betterment for you in this way. It is being explained for the purpose that you should care always for it. The door of evil thoughts is closed in it, because there is fear of great badness due to looking improper. Therefore you should leave that path which leads to any straying place.

25.  On that Day Allah will pay them their just due, and they will know that Allah, He is the Manifest Truth.

26.  Vile women are for vile men, and vile men for vile women. And good women are for good men, and good men for good women; such are innocent of that which people say. For them is pardon and a bountiful provision.
25.  Yawma-‘iziny-yuwaffiihi-mUllaahu  diina-humul-haqqa  wa  ya’-lamuuna  ‘annAllaaha  Huwal-Haqqul-Mubiin.

26.  ‘Al-khabiisaatu  lil-khabii-siina  wal-khabii-suuna  lil-khabiisaat.  Wat-tayyi-baatu  lit-tayyi-biina  wat-tayyi-buuna  lit-tayyi-baat.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika  mu-barra-‘uuna  mimmaa  yaquu-luun.  Lahum-magfiratunw-wa  rizqun-  kariim.  (Section 3)

Commentary

Yuwaffii – (He will pay full), origin of this word is taw-fi-yatun, which has come out from wa-fa-ya. Wafaa-‘a means “to render one his due”. Taw-fi-yatun means “to give complete”.

Diina – (due, chastisement), there are several meanings of this word. However, here it aims “chastisement, exchange, retaliation etc.”

‘Al-haqqa – (just and true, as it should be).

On the Day of Resurrection, none will have any relationship with any other. Even that own body parts as tongue, hands and feet etc. will deny from obeying. Which a little power was given to the mankind during worldly life, will be snatched. Every part of the body, even the skin also; will say clearly: Yes! He/she committed so and so sins by us.

It is commanded: Allaah Almighty shall give them full punishment of their wicked deeds on the Day of Resurrection, and then they will have faith that verily and truly Allaah Almighty exists. And He knows correct reckoning of entire deeds. And He will give suitable and proper punishment according to every individual’s personal deeds.

After that this rule has been described that vile women, bad things and indecent matters are for vile men. And vile men, bad things and indecent matters are for vile women. Good men are for good women and good women are for good men. To whom you have accused, are quite free from it. By saying them bad, they cannot become bad. But due to their patience, their entire errors (great or little) are forgiven and they will be provided a bountiful provision in the Gardens.

Evidence by tongue, hands and feet - Quran Chapter 24: 23 & 24 (Pt-18, Stg-4) (L-2213) درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 24: 23 & 24 (Pt-18, Stg-4) (L-2213) درس قرآن

Chapter “Nuur” – (Light) - 24

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

23.  Lo! as for those who traduce virtuous, believing women (who are) careless, cursed are they in the world and the Hereafter. And theirs will be an awful doom –

24.  On the Day when their tongues and their hands and their feet testify against them as to what they used to do.
23.  ‘Innallaziina  yarmuunal-muhsanaatil-gaafilaatil- Mu’-minaati  lu-‘inuu  fid-dunyaa  wal-‘Aakhirah.  Wa  lahum  ‘Azaabun  ‘aziim.

24.  Yawma  tash-hadu  ‘alay-him  ‘alsinatuhum  wa  ‘aydiihim  wa  ‘arjuluhum  bimaa  kaanuu  ya’-maluun.

Commentary

Tash-hadu  ‘alay-him – {they (tongues, hands and feet etc.) will testify against them}, origin of the word tash-hadu is shahaadatun, which means “evidence”. The aim from tash-hadu  ‘alay-him is “their body parts will give evidence clearly against them”.

Those people have been threatened strongly in these verses who traduce virtuous, believing women. It is commanded: The evil nature people will be cursed in this world and on the Day of Resurrection who accuse falsely and charge upon the married; chaste women; who do not have any connection with indecency and have belief in Allaah Almighty. To impute such virtuous women is a great sin.

By this, collective life of the world is spoiled. Therefore, its worldly punishment is scourging with the whip, and such people will be tormented very severely on the Day of Resurrection too. They should not be proud of it that they can deny on the Doomsday. Their own tongues, hands and feet will give evidence that they calumniated a chaste woman and committed evil works.

22.  And let not those who posses dignity and ease among you, swear against giving to the near of kin and to the needy, and to fugitives for the cause of Allah. Let them forgive and show indulgence. Yearn ye not that Allah may forgive you? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
22.  Wa  laa  ya’-tali  ‘ulul-fazli  minkum  wassa-‘ati  ‘anyyu’-tuuu  ‘ulil-qurbaa  wal-masaa-kiina  wal-Muhaajiriina  fii-  SabiiLillaah.  Wal-ya’-fuu  wal-yas-fahuu.  ‘Alaa  tuhibbuuna  ‘any-yagfirAllaahu  lakum.  Wallaahu  Gafuurur-Rahiim.

Commentary

Laa  ya’-tali – (they should not swear), it is a negative sentence from the word ‘iitilaa-‘un, origin of which is ‘il-yatun (oath). The aim from the word “‘iitilaa-‘un” is “to swear that I shall not do this work”.

The Muslims were directed clearly in the previous verses that they were misled by Satan and his human disciples, and they had been entangled in their trap, but they should never co-operate with those who spread false rumors and circulate the liar stories of indecency in future.

After that, now they should conciliate with one another mutually and be connected socially. Rich people of you, who used to support the poor people financially, they should continue this practice. Forgive that person if any from them was involved in the seduction ignorantly, show indulgence and be not angry upon him in future. And if any rich person had sworn, being in anger that he would never help those who participated in spreading the calumny, they should break their oath and pay its expiation and pay the scholarship of the needy continuously. Allaah Almighty is Forgiving, Merciful. You should supplicate in His Court that haply He forgive your sins. You also should forgive the errors of others.

Therefore, Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him) paid expiation of his oath after hearing this verse from the Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and began to issue the scholarship of his nephew named Masattah again (which was discontinued by swearing in anger), who participated and was involved in spreading the false accusation.

Commentary

It is commanded: When the mankind was created, a foe of him Satan was created also along with him, who tries to mislead him by entrapping him in the snare of evil wishes, from that path which has been prescribed for him. He deceives in such and such ways that an intelligent person too can be entangled in his trap and begins to consider that transitory benefits of the world are everything.

During this unmannerly tenure, if Someone helps the mankind, That is Allaah Almighty, his Creator and Lord. Without inclining unto Him, the mankind cannot stand in any way. Furious hurricanes of wishes cause to tremble him. Swift waves of desires dash violently.

Consequently, he staggers at every footstep and suffers a lot. He would have been ruined, but the Grace of Allaah Almighty and His Mercy have supported him. Without His Favor, the mankind cannot live chaste. It is His help that many people are saved from the sins. He is; Who guides the sinners to repent. He forgives their errors and hears the call of every complainant. He knows all circumstances of every individual. If He does neither purify to any person by His Grace and nor settle their matters by His Mercy, then neither anyone can be pure and nor live satisfactorily.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

21a.  O ye who believe! Follow not the footsteps of the Devil. And whosoever followeth the footsteps of the Devil, lo! he commandeth indecency and evil.
21a.  Yaaa-‘ayyuhallaziina  ‘aamanuu  laa  tattabi-‘uu  khutu-waatish-Shaytaan.  Wa  many-yattabi’-  khutu-waatish-Shaytaani  fa-‘innahuu  ya’-muru  bil-fah-shaaa-‘i  wal-munkar.

Commentary

Khutu-waatish-Shaytaani – (the footsteps of the Devil), meanings of fahshaa and munkar (indecency and evil) have passed in Suratul-‘A’-raaf. (Say: MY Lord has forbidden only indecencies, such of them as are apparent and such as are hidden, and sin and wrongful oppression, and that ye associate with Allah that for which no warrant has been revealed, and that ye tell concerning Allah that which ye know not. 7:33). It was commanded earlier in Suratul-Baqarah: “Follow not the footsteps of the Devil”.

Belief of the Hypocrites is illusive only. As soon as they found chance, they accused of indecency to the innocent people, although it was forbidden, and then they circulated this false story as much that some true Muslims also were involved in their deception. Therefore, the attention has been drawn again towards such matters in this verse which were already explained and which were forgotten by some Muslims due to disturbance of the Hypocrites.

It is commanded: The Devil tries always to mislead the mankind from the right and straight path. Like this, the people who have become his disciples, they also wish to misguide the people unto their wrong path. Behold! You have believed in Allaah Almighty. You should never fall into the scheming of Satan and his followers. They desire to invite the people towards indecency and evil, and bring a charge against the righteous people. You should escape from the path they chose and never be deceived by them.
