Commentary

From here, the mention about Abraham (peace be upon him) begins. He was a Prophet of God Almighty. Whatsoever he used to say; was entirely true. His father, whose name “Azar” has passed in Chapter 6, verse 74 (Suratul- ‘An-‘aam), was a sculptor, used to make idols of mud and stone and sell them to the people. Those people including Azar himself also used to prostrate before the idols and perform all ceremonies of worship. Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) said to his father: Why do you worship these dumb and deaf idols? These cannot be of your use. O my father: Give them up and listen to me! I have come to know that about which you know nothing. I have seen greatest things of the entire world. These idols do not have any reality before them. I have pondered on the condition of stars, moon and sun. None of them is able that it should be accepted as Lord and worshipped. Best counsel for you near me is that you should act upon my advice. And you should do that whatever I say. I shall guide you unto the Right and Straight Path, after which there will be no danger for you.

Commentary

Holy Qur’an desires to inform the mankind today; in this world about their error. If he could not have belief in the Commands of Holy Qur’an due to manners and customs of his forefathers and folk, then he will suffer from great anguish on the Day of Resurrection, because on that Day; entire reality will come before his eyes. And the voices of the truth will echo in his ear.

It is commanded: Being involved in the worldly matters, neither they hear and nor see the truth today. They have been entangled in carelessness and do not believe in God Almighty, but such Day will come when they will come unto Us; leaving their relatives and companions of the world. And then We shall be their Owner and Heir. These people will neither be of their use there, nor will be able to remove their grief, sorrow or remorse and nor will they be able to save them from the doom by helping them financially or physically etc.

Holy Qur’an utters with stress on this matter that if you will believe and obey Its commandments today; then on the Day of Resurrection you will be saved from regret and anguish, otherwise after death; every individual shall hear and see that It was the Truth. That is beyond the mention which anxiety of carelessness will be at that time.

Commentary

In fact, after admitting the Power of Allah Almighty perfectly, we should believe that only He is our Lord, because it will be known by pondering that whether how best arrangements of training have been made for any person, at the end, the matter lasts on only Allah Almighty that how much good or bad that person is proved. Talents and capability is not under the control of any mankind. And any system of education and training will not be useful as long as the talents and capability do not exist. Therefore, mine and yours actual Lord is That One Incomparable Life, Who is called Allah and God; The Most High. Only He is Able to be Worshipped. It is the Straight Path for the mankind. But his own thoughts and forcibly produced doctrines become hindrance in this Way. To whom you see, have made own separate group. There is no any other reason of opposing save it that the people prevent others from the Right Path for their personal worldly benefits. And till the time they make not their separate path; they do not sit at ease. But these disputes of the world will be finished very soon.

Those people who have acquired temporary power with force and oppressing others, they will have to confront an awful Day after death. The disbelievers of Allah Almighty will be great losers on that Day. When that Day will come, those people who believed and did good works, such Belief will be useful for them. The disbelievers will remain empty-handed, and destruction and ruin will be only for such people.

Commentary

Qawlal-Haqqi – (a Statement of the Truth). the word “qawla” has come out from the word “qaala”. It indicates unto the Word of God Almighty. It aims that Allah Almighty has disclosed the Truth.

After describing the story of the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him) in detail, it is commanded: Such is Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon them), about whom, We have stated the Truth. The Christians say that he is son of God. Someone tried to prove that Mary (peace be upon her) was married with Joseph Najjaar (a carpenter). The simple matter is only that she was never married to any person and nor was she unchaste (Let us flee to God). It seems clearly from that which Mary (peace be upon her) Herself announced, and that whatsoever Jesus (peace be upon him) said about himself, that he was born without father. And there was any wisdom of God Almighty hidden in it that He produced Jesus without the source of father as a miracle. Jesus himself (peace be upon him) is chaste as well as his mother also is quite free from the charge of unchaste. He says: Allah Almighty has appointed me a Prophet (peace be upon him).

After that, it is commanded: Allah Almighty is not needy of any son. He does not require any helper in His work. When He intends to do any work, He commands directly for it and says: Be! As soon as He says Be, that happens. Though apparently it may take some time, but the promise cannot be hindered.

Commentary

The infant {Jesus (peace be upon him)} said: Allah Almighty has appointed me a Prophet, given me the Scripture and made me blessed for the people wheresoever I may be. Then he (peace be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has enjoined upon me to offer prayer and to remain clean and pure. So long as I shall remain alive I shall adore Him wholeheartedly, best form of which is Prayer; in which it is disclosed by the tongue, hands and feet etc. before Him that He is the Greatest and mankind is helpless. And by standing, bowing, in sitting condition and by keeping the forehead on the ground (in all conditions), He is praised. He has commanded me also to pay the poor-due, by which everything is purified. Keeping the heart and intention pure, removing the impurity from own body and clothes, purifying the wealth and property by giving a portion of it as alms and charity for the sake of Allah Almighty, in short; in every matter and in all respect, adopting the neatness comes in it. Moreover, He has made me polite and a sympathizer of the mankind. Particularly, He has directed me to remain dutiful and obedient of my mother. He has neither made me moody and nor determined me arrogant, proud or ill-omened and unfortunate. It has been included in my nature that I should behave with every individual softly and with kindness. God’s mercy, bounty and peace rains upon me every time as it rained on the day I was born, and will rain on the day I shall die, and the Day I shall be raised alive.

Commentary

At last that stage came before Mary (peace be upon her), from which she was afraid. It could not be that she might dwell separately; hidden from the members of her family, relatives and the people of her native land. Eventually she entered into her township and came unto her family and folk; carrying her son. The people began to taunt and reproach her. Then Mary (peace be upon her) had nothing to say, so she produced her son before them helplessly.

It was an indication that the infant himself would tell that who was he, how did he come in the world. Perhaps she would have thought that after being young, his character and sayings will manifest the truth. But I sacrifice on the kindness and mercy of Allah Almighty that He did not leave the matter on future and decided at the spot, so that no intelligent person may talk about it after that. He bestowed power of speaking to the infant who was in the cradle and who gave evidence with his tongue before the people: Allah Almighty has produced me by His Omnipotence only from my mother’s womb. I am His slave. He has appointed me for a work for which He has revealed a Scripture upon me, and He has chosen me as His Prophet. And He has made me so much fortunate that wherever I shall go; welfare and blessings will go with me there, and entire afflictions and sufferings of the people of that place will be removed.

Although he {Jesus (peace be upon him)} did not say with his tongue that he was born without father, but it was obvious from that whatsoever he said.
