Commentary

Allaah Almighty sent the mankind in this world for dwelling after giving him a good countenance, body in good condition, mind for thinking and strong heart, where there have been spreading everywhere - great, beautiful and very attractive natural scenes, delicious foods and drinkables, goods of ease and comfort. But Allaah Almighty has put such portents into all of them; by which the mankind can know Him easily. He desires that the mankind should see these portents and by them; he should comprehend Him, bow before Him and in accord with His Commandment; he should reap advantage from the things of the world.

It has been commanded in these verses: O the children of Adam! Forget Us not by involving in the matters of this world. We have spread the tokens of Our Omnipotence all around in the world. Moreover, We have revealed clear verses of Holy Qur’an unto Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) for your guidance. Those verses manifest the Truth entirely. But often the sense of the mankind is concealed with the veils of the wishes. No one can get guidance without Grace of God Almighty. He illuminates the sense of that person with His Light; to whom He wills. And in that Light, his sense guides him towards the Straight Path. Some are such people who say by their mouths that they believe in Allaah Almighty, His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and they are ready to obey all Commandments. But when the time of obedience comes, they turn away. After the claim of belief and obedience, they choose rebellion. In fact, their claim was false. They did never believe. So it is found that they are useless and deceivers.

Commentary

If you have known Allaah Almighty after looking His clear Signs in the world, then you should learn more concerning Him. You should form an opinion from it that He created the Matter, which adopts different forms easily from the affect of heat, cold, dryness and moisture etc. Sometime its atoms assemble by the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty and sometime become separate. From the same, creatures of the world came into being in process of time. By collection and subtraction of the particles of the Matter, the things used to come in existence and be disfigured. Even that when the suitable time came, then the things having life; appeared and the creatures which might move in different ways, were produced.

Some of them from those creatures are such which move on their bellies as serpents, maximum creeping animals and animals of water. Some are those which walk on two legs as mankind and birds. And some of them are those which walk on four feet as the cattle and beasts of prey etc. And the Omnipotence of Allaah Almighty is not limited on this only. He can make any creature as He desire. And He can give to any animal more than four hands and feet too as He will. It becomes easy to understand this matter after observing this all that Omnipotence of Allaah Almighty is Infinite and His Power is Boundless. The mankind cannot think more than this.

44.  Yuqalli-bUllaahul-layla  wan-nahaar.  ‘Inna  fii  zaalika  la-‘ibratalli-‘ulil-‘absaar.

Commentary

Yusiibu – (to let fall, to strike), origin of this word is ‘asaabatun, origin of which is sawbun. Sawbun means “toward”. ‘Asaabatun means “to let fall toward someone”. Yusiibu  bihii means “He causes to fall it”.

Bardun – (hail, frozen drops of rain)

When the cold increases in the mass of clouds (which would be like mountains); then the water changes its form in frozen drops of rain after freezing. And some things may be damaged there; where it (pieces of Hail) falls abundant. Many places are saved also from hail or its loss. The flash lightens sharply in the mountains of clouds and by sudden burst of its light the eyes dazzle, even it seems that the sight is near to go to end. Everybody is aware of this scene.

It has been commanded in this verse that it all is a Token of the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty, by which we should comprehend Him. Moreover, there is a clear Token of His Omnipotence also in changing of days and nights regularly. The eyes of the hearts of whose are able to see, for them; there is an opportunity that they should meditate in these Tokens. If they will deem, they will find out that none other can do this all save Allaah Almighty.

Layers of the clouds

Chapter Nuur” – (Light) - 24

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

43a.   Hast thou not seen how Allah wafteth the clouds, then gathereth them, then maketh them layers, and thou seest the rain come forth from between them;
43a.  ‘Alam  tara  ‘annAllaaha  yuzjii  sahaaban  summa  yu-‘allifu  baynahuu  summa  yaj-‘aluhuu  rukaaman  fataral-wadqa  yakhruju  min  khilaalih.

Commentary

Yuzjii – {(He) wafts, drives (clouds)}, this word has been derived from ‘izjaa-‘un, which means “to convey smoothly through water or air”.

Rukaamun – (plait by plait), it is an Adjective, origin of which is rakama. It means: to pile one upon another.

Wadqa – (rain), another word Matar (in Arabic language) is used also for the same purpose.

Khilaalun  – (central places), this word is plural of khalalun, which means “the place in between”.

The mankind cannot gain his end without admitting Allaah Almighty after comprehending Him. Without belief in Him, his any work cannot be cause of his success. If that work is good, it will be useful in this world for a few days. But no reward of it will be given to him after death. And if that work is bad then it will spread over his heart and mind by becoming darkness. And the great heap of those darknesses will drown him in the sea of darkness.

Portents of the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty are in abundance in the entire world. Many of them have been described in the previous verses. In this verse, the attention has been drawn toward an obvious Sign. Every individual would have seen Raining. Have the people ever think that what arrangements are made for this purpose? The clouds are gathered from all around by enclosing and then those are mixed up together. Then those are laid down plait by plait upon one another. Then you see that it begins to rain. Did you ever think that why it happens and Who is behind this all?

Behold! These are the works of Allaah Almighty. The clouds gather at one place by His Command and mix up mutually. Then it becomes cloudiness and drops of water begin to fall. And then it begins to rain in torrents.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

41.  Hast thou not seen that Allah, He it is Whom all who are in the heavens and the earth praise, and the birds in their flight? Each one knoweth verily its worship and its praise. And Allah is Aware of what they do.

42.  Ant unto Allah belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and unto Allah is the journeying.
41.  ‘Alam  tara  ‘annAllaaha  yusabbiHu  laHuu  man-  fis-samaaa-waati  wal-‘arzi  wat-tayru  saaaffaat.  Kullun  qad  ‘alima  salaatahuu  wa  tasbiihah.  Wallaahu  ‘Aliimun-bimaa  yaf-‘aluun.

42.  Wa  Lillaahi  Mulkus-samaa-waati  wal-‘arz.  Wa  ‘ilAllaahil-masiir.

Commentary

Saaaffaat – (spread in flight, expanded), this word is plural of saaafatun, which is the Subject Feminine from saffun. It means “to spread with arrangement”. Here it aims “wings of the birds spread in flight”.

Maximum people consider that doing good works is useful. They themselves adopt sympathy, well-wishing for others, bestowing, justice, charity, alms giving, good turn and virtue etc. and guide others too to do these works. Along with it also they abstain from doing wrong and prevent others. But they think that having belief in Allaah almighty is not necessary. Some are the people who neither themselves do good works, nor abstain from wrong deeds and nor believe in Allaah Almighty. Concerning both above mentioned groups, it has been described that the works of the first kind of people will be useless for them after death, and the people of second kind have been entangled in the darknesses. They will be entangled in the darkness always.

Remaining those people who are Believers, they do good works and abstain from wrong deeds. They will be bestowed with good retaliation.

After that, it is commanded: What has happened with those people? Does it not strike to them that everything of the world has been disclosing the Greatness of Allaah Almighty in their own languages and tongues, and those are engaged in Allaah’s worship and praise? The birds have been extolling Him by spreading their wings. Why the mankind is careless in this matter? He should understand it carefully that Allaah Almighty knows his entire acts and he/she cannot escape from Him. The Sovereignty in the heavens and the earth is of Allaah Almighty only and to Him is the destination.
