Lesson
‘AnzalNaa – (We revealed), it is past tense, origin of which is ‘inzaal. ‘Inzaal means ”to reveal”, which has been derived from nazuul. Nazuul means “to come down”. The word nazlah is from it too. Nazlah is that water, which falls from the eye and the nose together. Nazuul is used also for that thing, which comes down gradually by changing its forms and finally it appears in a complete shape. According to this discussion; ‘anzaal will be meant: Making a thing usable after changing it in different forms. Aim to use it here is the same, because first form of the raiment is cotton etc. then threads are prepared from the cotton, after that, cloth is woven from the thread. Finally the cloth is cut and sewn according to required size and made clothe (raiment). Allah Almighty makes this all process easy for the sake of human being with His Mercy.

Riishun – (splendid vesture, ornaments, goods for adornment), actually this word (riishun) is used for the feathers/wings of the birds. The birds have decorations with their wings because these things are for their adornment, save them from cold and hot weather etc. too. The clothes of the human beings perform the same duty for them. Those keep them hot, so, are like the riishun for the mankind.

Taqwaa – (restraint from evil), this word has come at many places in the Holy Qur’an. Here it aims – modesty and shame, which saves from frivolous and absurd matters. This is the actual raiment of the humankind. Admonishing every kind of ups and downs properly to Adam and His wife Eve (peace be upon Them), they were sent down in the world from the Garden. Now, their children have been advised. The first advice is in this verse.

It is commanded: O Children of Adam (peace be upon Him)! We have grown in the world such things from the earth, from which you can prepare raiment for yourself by using those forces, which Allah Almighty has given to you. And you can cover those parts of your body, opening of which is a shame. Moreover, the raiment is splendid vesture for human being and source of keeping your body hot in the cold weather too. And it will be useful for you as the feathers and wings of the birds are useful for them also. But in fact this raiment is helpful of your shame. The real thing, with which your body and soul can be saved, is restraint from evil, main part of which is shame and modesty.

These modesty, shame and fear of God Almighty are the matters, which will save you from shamelessness, evil deeds and indecent talks. Apparent dress is helper to fear of God Almighty. If fear of Allah Almighty does not exist, only raiment is not sufficient for prevention from the sins and wicked deeds. The raiment is one of the apparent tokens of Allah Almighty, thinking about which, you can perceive that Allah Almighty desires to keep you chaste, pure and clean. If you did not understand such matter from the dress; that it is the base camp of the heart’s chastity, then you have not taken that work from consideration and solicitude, which was your duty being a sensible and mature person. While “Restraint from the Evil” is a Foundation, then the raiment should also be according to Divine precepts of the Religion.
