Lesson

Nas-tadrijuhum – (step by step We lead them, We shall arrest them in process of time), the origin of this word is ‘istadraaj and it has been derived from the word darjun. Darjun means “to move little by little”. The word darjah is also from the same which is a famous word and which aims “a stage, destination or a storey of a house, a ladder or a step of the stair”. ‘Istadraaj means “to go ahead step by step”. It aims that God says: We shall let them commit evils and their punishment will be increased little by little, and they will not know that misfortune will be coming very soon.

‘Umlii – (I give rein), its origin is ‘amlaaa’ which means “to give respite, to delay, to loosen, to let go”. Actually, this word has been made from the word “malawun”, which means “a portion of the time”. Malwaanun is used for day and night. So the meaning of ‘amlaaa’ would be “to let the time pass”.

Kaydun – (scheme) – to make a secret plan against any foe, due to which, he is not harmed at the spot, but is punished at the end with full scale.

Matiin – (strong), it is an adjective from the word matan. Matan means strength, ripeness, maturity etc. Matiin means “that actual strong and matured thing which may not be broken. Such thing is also called matan. Here, it aims “My secret plan is very strong, which cannot be destroyed”.

It is commanded: Those people who turned away from Our Revelations by saying “These are false”, usually they are not punished immediately but their cord of carelessness is loosened. And they are provided worldly wealth, power and dignity in abundance. They become happy and begin to say: Allah, the Messengers, the Scriptures and the Doomsday (all) have been composed a blunder. Behold! We have reached the highest place from the lowest with our wisdom and prudence.

Then it is commanded by Allah Almighty: I give them rein for consequently I shall arrest them in process of time unawares. They cannot be saved from My scheme and secret plan. That scheme will lead them; at last; to a severe distress and wrath, by keeping them increased in wealth and prosperity and by surrounding them from all around.

This verse is very awful. The people who do not believe in Allah Almighty, consider that Messengers and Scriptures are needless, and say that they have been moving up in wealth and dignity, they should think that if they carried on as now and any heavy misfortune fell suddenly upon them, they would not be able to do something. Therefore, it is convenient if they accept the commands of Islam now with true heart and do the worldly work considering it casual and perform only as much, which is needful for living. And they should pass remaining time in the consideration of the Hereafter.
