Quran Chapter 10-104a (Pt-11, Stg-3)(L-1333) -درس قرآن

First lesson of Islam is that All-Powerful is Allah

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

104a.  Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! If ye are in any doubt as to my religion, then (know that) I worship not those whom ye worship instead of Allah,
104a.  Qul  yaaa-‘ayyu-hannaasu  ‘in-  kuntum  fii  shakkim-min-  diinii  falaaa  ‘a’-budul-laziina  ta’-buduuna  min-  duu-Nillaahi

Commentary

Allah Almighty commands to His last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that he should say to the people who do not believe: Behold! I explain before you about the summary of my religion. Open your ears, understand it thoroughly that I do not believe in any of the deities appointed by you with your own will. My Worshipped is only One God, Allah, The Most High. Except Him; I do not make Deity to any other. I worship only Him and do not make anything as a partner with Him, because “if I shall do so, it will be meant that He Alone is not able to be a Worshipped, when I shall include others then He will be a perfect God” (May Allah Almighty forgive me!). These both matters are opposite to my religion. First thing is infidelity, that is to say; totally denial of Allah Almighty; and ascribing other things as partners in worship by setting Him aside. Second thing is Polytheism, that is to say; accepting that Allah is Worshipped but there are some more; which are His partners.

In this verse, the first and the biggest fundamental principle of Islam has been described, name of which is Oneness of God Almighty (Tawhiid). Tawhiid means “Not to prostrate before anything of the universe, and not to disgrace oneself before that thing; being awe-stricken from its splendor. Apparent senses of the human being cause him entangled in deception. Naturally he feels that he is weak. To which thing he considers powerful, bows before it. Feeling that someone else is more powerful and bowing before him; considering most respectful, is just like making him own worshipped.

It is the fist lesson of Islam that All-Powerful is One Allah Almighty. Everything of the universe is helpless before Him. Therefore, the mankind should not prostrate before any person or thing save Him (Allah Almighty).

Quran Chapter 10-102 & 103 (Pt-11, Stg-3)(L-1332) -درس قرآن

Religion is an important matter but without compulsion

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Commentary

If we reflect on the description of previous Section, we shall find some very necessary principles of life from it:

1.   All humankind of the world will not be Believers. Only those people; whose hearts have tendency of seeking the truth and the right, they will incline unto this matter wholeheartedly. But the people who are engaged in collecting worldly advantages by enjoying the slight pleasures, they are not effective; whether you cause to understand them as much as you can, admonish them by reciting the verses of God’s Word, they will never believe. Therefore, Allah Almighty has made so law of life for the mankind that He has added up perfect guidance in Holy Qur’aan for them; who want to seek the Truth. And for teaching this Book of Allah Almighty, the Religious Scholars remained in the world always. Seekers of the Truth used to come unto them successively, so that they might learn the Scripture and remove their doubts.

2.   Nobody can compel any other for believing. Every individual has been provided opportunity for choosing the way and religion he/she desires in accord with own sense and capability and he should act upon it according to own will. Different religions and the people of separate thoughts from one another will remain among the people up to the last day of the world. So verily it is sufficient that every individual should solve own doubts by asking from own scholar. Then it is duty of the scholar that he should not keep his personal worldly benefits in view at the time of describing the Truth. He should explain the matter correctly, without any greed, before them who come unto him in search of the Right for the sake of Allah Almighty, and only due to the reason that it has been commanded in Holy Qur’aan that the seekers should ask and the scholar should explain. It is duty of every individual.

3.   For keeping up such atmosphere that seekers of the truth may carry on their effort freely, and they may not be entangled in articles of faith willing or unwilling, moreover, they should understand about them (religious tenets) with cool heart and cause to know them. It is necessary that safety and peace should be established in the world. Nobody should use force of any sort against any other, and every individual should be able to get necessities of life according to his needs. Religion is an important thing. When there is no compulsion in it; then how can be “violence and oppressing one another” lawful for worldly advantages?

It is known from this verse that in the world, people of every doctrine will exist. Therefore, it is incumbent that authority should be of justice, safety and peace.

Behavior of ancient nations - Quran Chapter 10-102 & 103 (Pt-11, Stg-3)(L-1331) -درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10-102 & 103 (Pt-11, Stg-3)(L-1331) -درس قرآن

Behavior of ancient nations

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Commentary

Stories of the people; belonging to former times have not been described in Holy Qur’aan; for rejoicing or historical sciences. The only aim of their description is that the mankind should draw out from them useful results for himself, and which errors they committed, he should escape from them. Holy Qur’aan teaches the human being; method of dwelling in the world; in such a way that; he may gain ease and comfort, not only in the worldly life but also in the life which will begin after death. When it desires to explain about the principles of any particular point of view of such life, then for this purpose, behavior of any of the ancient nations, which; that nation had adopted concerning such particular aspect, is represented by verses.

For example, let’s go through the Chapter, which is running, in it; it has been caused to understand the human being that: Believing in Allah Almighty, having trust in Him, following the instructions and commands mentioned in His Scripture i.e. Holy Qur’aan, and understanding its Revelations through Deeds and Sayings of His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon Him), are necessary for success of human life in both worlds. If any individual opposes the above and does not believe, discovers a new way of life according to own will, then its result will be bad.

For impressing this matter well on the mind, circumstances of Prophet Noah (peace be upon Him) and His folk has been described. After that, generally it has been narrated that the folks; after the folk of Noah (peace be upon Him) were also disobedient of their Prophets (peace be upon them) as the folk of Noah (peace be upon Him), and they were seized in the torment due to their disobedience.

Then circumstances of Prophets Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them) have been narrated. Pharaoh did not accept Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them), so the Children of Israel were saved but Pharaoh was drowned along with his Army. Understandable matter in it; is that the people should believe in Messenger (peace be upon Him) and Revelations mentioned in Divine Scripture, before arrival of God’s wrath, because aim of it is to dress own life. If the time of life is over then Belief is useless and it has no consequence. For causing to know this point, difference of Pharaoh’s Belief and the Belief of the folk of Jonah (peace be upon him) has been explained, from which; one’s Belief was useless, whereas others’ was useful.

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

102.  What expect they save the like of the days of those who passed away before them? Say: Wait then! I am with you among those who wait.

103.  Then shall We save Our Messengers and the believers, in like manner (as of old). It is incumbent upon Us to save believers.
102.  Fahal  yanta-ziruuna  ‘illaa  misla  ‘ayyaa-milla-ziina  kha-law  min-  qab-lihim.  Qul  fanta-ziruuu  ‘innii  ma-‘akum-minal-muntaziriin.

103.  Summa  nu-najjii  Rusula-Naa  walla-ziina  ‘aamanuu  kazaa-lik.  Haqqan  ‘alay-Naa  nunjil-Mu’-miniin.

Commentary

It is commanded: what can be object of hesitation in believing save it that you have been waiting for the torment of Allah Almighty as it was sent on the nations before you? If this is the case, إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ (Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return), O Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon Him): Say to them! Path of Guidance has been disclosed. Nothing has been shown with partiality, left hidden or secret. When it all is done; even then they do not believe, then save the torment; there is nothing remained. If now; you do not believe; then wait for the torment. I am also with you among those who wait for it. When the torment from Allah Almighty will come; then Right and Wrong will be distinguished clearly.

Allah Almighty commands to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon Him) that He should explain them also that; it is fixed rule of Allah Almighty that when the torment is sent, He saves His Messengers, Prophets (peace be upon them) and those who believed, as it is evident from circumstances of ancient nations. In like manner, even now, He will save His Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon Him) along with Believers. Allah Almighty has been commanding: It is incumbent upon Us to save the Believers. Behold! These commandments of Allah Almighty and carelessness of human beings::

God created all things for human beings

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

101.  Say: Behold what is in the heavens and the earth! But signs and warnings avail not folk who are not to believe.
101.  Qulin-zuruu  maa-zaa  fis-samaawaati  wal-‘arz.  Wa  maa  tugnil-‘Aayaatu  wan-nuzuru  ‘an-qawmil-laa  yu’-minuun.

Commentary

It is commanded that the world is full of commodities, incidents and scenes. Whether, by looking these entire things, any individual does not think that “what is this all? From where has it come and where will it go? Nay! Certainly think but such people only; whose sense works properly; as it should work. Intellect of the human being remains restless for the purpose that; how much things are known to him, by connecting them in accord with good disposition, he should get results from them.

It is essential that every instinct assumes results itself but observance of the rules of etiquette is not attainable by everyone. Foundation of some mankind’s nature is such which satisfies him with false results, but some are those who are not satisfied from such results, and though they observe that their all necessities are being fulfilled, even then they do not see themselves satisfied and pleasant with it and their hearts do not accept.

They say: while satisfaction and pleasure is not found; then those results which we assumed; are useless. We should still move forward and should not stop trying until we get satisfy-able results. Those people who reject material advantages, they find that the Creator of all these things is Allah Almighty, and having belief in Him is source of heart’s satisfaction. Such people begin to look the tokens of God’s existence in every thing of the world and at last; they believe in Allah Almighty. And after that, the signs of the things created by Him, Verses of the Scripture revealed by Him; and causing to understand by His Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon him) elevate them up to humankind’s highest grade. The mankind should not consider that worldly benefits are everything for him but after knowing his Creator and Lord, he should acquire success of the both worlds (this world and the life after death).

None can be made Believer forcibly

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

99.  And if thy Lord had willed, all who are in the earth would have believed together. Wouldst thou (Muhammad) compel men until they are believers?

100.  It is not for any soul to believe save by the permission of Allah. And He hath set uncleanness upon those who have no sense.
99.  Wa  law  shaaa-‘a  Rabbuka  la-‘aamana  man  fil-‘arzi  kuullu-hum  jamii-‘aa.  ‘Afa-‘anta  tukri-hun-naasa  hattaa  yakuunuu  Mu’-miniin.

100.  Wa  maa  kaana  li-nafsin  ‘an-tu’-mina  ‘illaa  bi-‘iz-Nillaah.  Wa  yaj-‘alur-rijsa  ‘alal-laziina  laa  ya’-qiluun.

Commentary

It is commanded that from the circumstances of ancient nations; it has been manifested that they did not use their sense. Even after looking the tokens of torment, they did not rouse from sleep. When they were smitten by the torment then believed in Allah Almighty. It is known from the verse under discussion that chance is given to every mankind in the world; that they should use their sense and believe in Allah Almighty. They are not compelled for this purpose. Therefore, none should think that any individual can be made believer forcibly. It is the form of the world that in it; all kinds of people live i.e. Believers, Infidels, Hypocrites, Idolaters, and Free-thinkers etc. but only those people will believe who would not have destroyed their mental power by evil deeds, and they will use their sense correctly, and by observing the circumstances of the world; they will know their Creator. This ability is bestowed by God Almighty. So we can say it in other words as “Allah Almighty guided him unto the Belief (the Straight Path)”, because Divine Guidance for using the powers correctly is a token of it that Allah Almighty has provided him Belief. If any individual does not have this talent then obviously he will bring out false conclusions from the occurrences. Then it would be meant that Allah Almighty has deprived him of precious and pure thing, that is to say; Belief, and filled impureness and wickedness into him.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

98.  Then why was there not any town which believed so that its belief might have profited it – (non) except the folk of Jonah! When they believed We drew off from them the torment of disgrace in the life of the world and gave them comfort for a while.

Commentary

It is commanded that the human being, being entangled in the worldly matters, becomes careless to this extent that he does not pay attention unto Allah Almighty. Due to this negligence, many nations were destroyed and ruined by the torment of Allah Almighty. If some of them believed in Allah Almighty, they believed at such time when really the torment had fallen suddenly upon them.

However, an example of the folk of Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him) exists, that; as soon as those people observed tokens of torment prior to its occurrence; they understood that Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him) spoke the truth, that if they would not believe in Allah Almighty, His torment would descend upon them. Looking unusual tokens of hurricane and violent storm in the sky, they all ran to search Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him), but they could not find Him.

At last they all went to jungle along with their families and pet cattle, accepted their errors by shedding tears and repented because they were really sorrowful for sins; and believed in Allah Almighty with true hearts. Due to their bewailing, the torment was withdrawn from them. And they were saved from disgrace of destruction and ruin. Then they were obedient servants of Allah Almighty and became rich of God’s blessings. So they passed their worldly life with success.

Story of Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him) will come in Surah Saaf-faat (Chapter 37). The aim from telling only a little; here; is that other all folks overcame with carelessness so much that till the time the torment did not come unexpectedly upon them; they did not believe. Only the folk of Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him) is such nation which repented immediately from disobedience of Allah Almighty as soon as they saw the portent of torment, and believed wholeheartedly.

Prophet Jonah (peace be upon Him) had said to His nation being distressed: the torment will come upon you after three days. Saying this, He (peace be upon Him) flew away from that territory. It all happened after His (peace be upon Him) departure.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

96.  Lo! Those for whom the Word of thy Lord (concerning sinners) hath effect will not believe-

97.  Wa  law  jaaa-‘at-hum  kullu  ‘Aayatin  hattaa  yara-wul-‘azaa-bal-‘aliim.

Commentary

After describing about the refractoriness of Pharaoh and consequence of that obstinacy, two exhortations have been advised. It was told in the previous verse that if the mankind feels difficulty in distinguishing among truth and a lie, then he should meditate in open and clear tokens of Allah Almighty, and ask from those people who know.

In this verse, it is narrated that some wretched people are those who disregard everyone before their pride and vanity; and do not hear the sayings of God’s Messengers (peace be upon them). The people who consider that their behavior is correct and their manners are right, although more intelligent people than them exist and who have more knowledge; have been telling them false, they are helpless due to evil days, and there is no hope of their correction. Perhaps they would be ready to hear the Truth if any such disaster come upon them unexpectedly; release from which is not possible.

Decision of Allah Almighty is final in favor of those unfortunate people; in which it has been explained that “some people in the world will never believe; although you cause to understand them as much as you can”. In the form of the world it is entered that every kind of people will live here having different natures, because in this way, good and wicked can be examined properly. In it, every individual is independent and permitted to choose the path at one’s own, however, those who are sensible and in search of the Truth, they should adopt the manner which has been mentioned in Holy Qur’aan, that is say; Don’t resist unreasonable and try to know the Truth.”

Carelessness from the duty of humanity

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

94.  And if thou (O Muhammad) art in doubt concerning that which We have revealed unto thee, then question those who read the Scripture (that was) before thee. Verily the Truth from thy Lord hath come unto thee; so be not thou of the waverers-

95.  And be not thou of those who deny the Revelations of Allah, for then thou will be of the losers.
94.  Fa-‘in  kunta  fii  shakkim-mim-maaa  ‘anzalNaaa  ‘ilay-ka  fas-‘alil-laziina  yaq-ra-‘uunal- Kitaaba  min-  qablik.  Laqad  jaaa-‘akal-Haqqu  mir-Rabbika  falaa  takuu-nanna  minal-mum-tariin.

95.  Wa  laa  takuu-nanna  minal-laziina  kazza-buu  bi-‘Aayaa-Tillaahi  fata-kuuna  minal-khaasiriin.

Commentary

The human being should make his faith strong and remove own doubts which are in the heart. Its method is that he should ask from those who know; and continue his effort of asking until his faith does not become strong; that yes! This manner is correct; which I wish to learn.

Aim of this verse is to cause to learn that one should ask from the knowers and skilled persons in the matter in which one desires to inquire fully. Regarding the religion, those people who have read in the previous Books; circumstances of the Scriptures of Allah Almighty and stories of Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them), from them, the Believers can describe that Allah Almighty has sent Messengers (peace be upon them) before this time and they caused to draw attention of the people unto the Revelations of Allah Almighty.

The individual who leaves so much big matter considering it ordinary, and does not try to believe in the last Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon Him) and Holy Qur’aan by asking from those who know, he is careless from the duty of humanity. It is duty of every mankind that they should acquire knowledge, and with the help of knowledge they should produce themselves Belief in Holy Qur’aan.

Those people who consider that the Revelations of Allah Almighty are useless; they will be losers in the world and in the Hereafter. Sometimes the science is taught wrong also and the people have faith in it, but actual science is that by which the belief in the Revelations of Allah Almighty is acquired.
