None is of higher class and none of lower

Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

74.  Then, after him, We sent Messengers unto their folk, and they brought them clear proofs; but they were not ready to believe in that which they had before denied. Thus print We on the hearts of the transgressors.

Commentary

Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) incited his nation hundred thousand times to good but they were not attentive. What was the reason? The only reason was that; they had fixed their own way of living in the world. They had established different classes of the people. Esteemed people used to command, whereas the people of lower class used to perform menial service for the higher class. Wherever honored people used to strut over the elevated seats, and the servants; standing around them, used to run here and there on their indications, they used to enjoy it and exult.

On the others side, Noah (peace be upon him) used to admonish them: All mankind are creature of Allah Almighty and equal. Neither any of them is of higher class and nor someone belongs to any lower class.

It is learned that “powerful persons accomplish their desires by distressing the weak”, is an ancient disease in the human beings. Whosoever forbids them from doing so is considered by them as their enemy.

It is commanded: After Noah (peace be upon him), We sent different Messengers (peace be upon them) unto different nations from time to time, who explained them very clearly that Allah Almighty has bestowed some powers; more to some people and less to others, for the purpose that the strong people should help the weak with their strength, but the entire nations adopted the same behavior; which was committed by refractory people before them. They falsified the Messengers (peace be upon them) and did whatever they wished.

The individual who follows his desires, his heart turns away from the good, as if; it has been sealed. Then it does not accept the influence of advice and exhortation. In the verse, it has been described that “Printing on the hearts is result of transgression”. ‘A’-tadaa’ means transgression, violation of law – that is to say, use of force against the weak. It is such disease which wrecks the humanity.
