but can hardly swallow, and death cometh unto him from every side while yet
he cannot die, and before him is a harsh doom.

Commentary
‘Istaf-tahuu – (they sought help), it is past tense from the word ‘istaf-taah,
origin of which is fa-ta-ha. Fa-ta-hun means “opening, hilarity”.
‘Istaf-taah means “supplication for success, to seek help”.
When the infidels
did not refrain, then the Messengers (peace be upon them) prayed in the Court
of Allah Almighty: We seek Your help in victory over them. So Allah Almighty
fulfilled His promise. Entire froward potentate people were destroyed even in
the world. Their all wishes and intentions were disappointed. Except
unluckiness they inherited nothing. And after death (on the Doomsday) they will
be thrown into the Fire of the Hell. The festering, which will come out from
their bodies due to burning, that will be caused to drink them. They will sip
it but will be unable to swallow. Death will come unto them from every side,
while yet they will not be able to die. Therefore, a more harsh and perpetual
doom is for them on the Day of Resurrection (God forbid).
