father biddeth thee, that he may reward thee with a payment for that thou
didst water (the flock) for us. Then, when he came unto him and told him the
(whole) story, he said: Fear not! Thou hast escaped from the wrongdoing folk.
26. One of the two
women said: O my father! Hire him! For the best (man) that thou canst hire is

Commentary
‘Ista’-jir and ‘Ista’-jarta - both words have
come out from ‘Istii-jaar, origin of which is ‘ajar. ‘Ajar
means “Remuneration, wages, compensation, fare etc. ‘Istii-jaar means “to
keep in one’s service, to employ”.
When Moses (peace be upon him) was praying before Allaah
Almighty that: My Lord! Arrange to provide me any abode so that I may rest and
escape from this difficulty. Meanwhile, one woman from those two, to whose
goats he had watered, came to him and said: My father has invited you so that
you may be given reward for having watered for us.
Moses (peace be upon him) understood that it was kindness of Allaah
Almighty, stood up and moved in front of the woman silently, and she guided him
(peace be upon him) remaining behind. Father of those women was Prophet Shueyb
(peace be upon him). Moses described him (peace be upon them) his entire
circumstances. After hearing the story, Shueyb (peace be upon him) said:
Be fearless because you have been saved from those people who have become
famous in injustice. Now there is no fear for you. One of the women said: Dear
Father! You are needy of a servant. As this man is strong, he is trustworthy
too. You cannot find any better servant than him. Hire him! He will perform our
all works honestly.
