Struggle for the Way

(I seek refuge in Allaah
from Satan the outcast)

65. This Day We shall
seal up their mouths; and their hands will speak out to Us and their feet
will bear witness as to what they used to earn.
66. And had We willed,
We verily could have quenched their eyesight so that they should struggle for
the Way. Then how could they have seen?

Commentary
TamasNaa – (We could have obliterated), this word
is in Past Tense from the word tamsun, which means “to erase, to
destroy, to cover up”.
‘Astabaquu – (they would have struggled), it is also
in Past Tense from the word sabaqa, which means “to go forth, to press
forward”. ‘Astabaaq means “to get on sharply, to run and to spring”.
It is commanded: On the Day of Resurrection, suppose if these
guilty people refuse by their mouths from the crimes they committed during
their worldly life, then their such refusal will not be useful for them,
because We shall seal over their mouths and command to their hands and feet:
Speak out about all such evils which they used to commit by your help?
After hearing the Commandment of Allaah Almighty, their
hands will begin to speak and say: This person misused us for beating and
oppressing others, picked others’ pockets, stole and snatched others’ wealth. The
feet will say: This individual visited bad places, attended assemblies of dances,
obscene songs and useless matters.
Then it is commanded: They see the scenes of Our Divine Power
with their eyes in the universe, but even then they do not admit. As its
punishment, if We destroy their eyes so that they may not see the Path, then
what will happen? We have given them respite but they do not reap advantage
from it.
