Commentary
Basaaa-‘ira – (for causing to understand),
this world is plural of basiirat, which has been derived from basara.
Basiirat means “light of the sense and guidance or source of guidance.
Masbuu-ran – (ruined, wretched), sabuur
means “destruction, ruin”.
Yastafiz-za – (to scare, to frighten),
origin of this word is faz-zun, which means “confusion, perplexity,
restlessness”. ‘Astafzaaz means “to confuse, to scare”.
Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) was sorrowful due
to stubbornness and arrogance of Pharaoh; and answered to him: you have
understood very well that the tokens which I have been showing, these have been
bestowed unto me by the Lord of the entire universe; for the purpose that; you
should get light of guidance from them. Moreover, so that you should know the
God of the entire world; Who is God of you also. I deem that if you did not
choose the right path even after looking these portents then your evil days
have reached very close to you.
But Pharaoh did not care and disregarded the saying
of the Messenger Moses (peace be upon him) and he said: I shall not be
suppressed from you in any condition. He made up his mind to keep the Children
of Israel always in trouble. He determined that he will not provide any chance
to Moses (peace be upon him) of becoming their leader and raise them against
him (Pharaoh), and with their help He (peace be upon him) ruin Pharaoh and his
empire, and become Himself the King of Egypt.
At last, when the oppression and tyranny of Pharaoh
and his chieftains crossed the limit, then - Allah Almighty commands: We drowned him and
those with him, all together, and within very short time; as Pharaoh was
destroyed; his kingdom was also ruined.
