Commentary
Yartaddu – (to return), this word is from ‘irtadaad,
which has been derived from raddun. Raddun means “to return, to
send back). ‘Irtadaad means “to come back or go back at own place”. Here
it aims “to come back at own place”. As though, when a person looks to any
other, his glance touches that thing or person. When he has seen it; then his
gaze returns to the seer. In this going and coming, haply it takes one second
or less than it. It aims “twinkling of the eye, a moment”. That is to say, in
the twinkling of eye, the Throne of Bilqiis will be before you.
When the demon presented his service i.e. (I will bring the
throne to you, before you can rise from your place.), then a person from the audience
stood up and said: I will bring it to you before
your glance returns to you. This person was not claimant of apparent and
material power. He had studied heavenly Scriptures and had strong belief in the
Limitless Omnipotence of Allaah Almighty. He was aware of it that His
Divine Power is not bound in the space and time. Commentators have described
that he was a Minister of Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) and his name was Asif
son of Barkhia.
Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) had invited
Bilquiis to embrace Islam. His aim was to push her back from worship of
the sun and assure her that the Owner of the entire Power is Allaah
Almighty. The person, who inclines towards Him with firm faith and supplicates
before Him, does never remain unlucky. Perhaps the purpose would be to disclose
upon own people also at such occasion that “as appearance of miracle by means
of any Prophet or Messenger (peace be upon him) is certain, like this those who
are benefitted by them, are full with supernatural powers too. Spiritual power
of Asif had increased so much that such generosity should appear by him.
Bounty of Allaah Almighty is Current every time without let or
hindrance. But acquiring gain from It depends upon own competency and capability
of the mankind. Every individual can get according to own skill.
