Commentary

There is an absolutely and clear announcement in this part of the verse that you will never find any change in those rules and regulations which Allaah Almighty, The Creator of the universe, has prescribed for arrangement of the worlds. Every work will be accomplished always according to those commandments which He has issued. In addition to these rules and regulations, there is a Metaphorical Law also which is called “The Law of Retaliation”, that is to say, every individual will be rewarded or punished for every work, done by the individual intentionally. If that work is good then its reward will also be good, but if that is a sin then its retaliation will be worse too.

A mankind can know this Law by his sense, experience and hearing the circumstances of ancient people. For causing to understand the same Law, attention of the mankind has been drawn at various places in Holy Qur’an towards the deeds of the ancient people and their consequences. And it has been commanded: The mankind should not draw this result from casual success that whatever he did or is doing, that is right. It is possible that immediate result of any deed is consolatory, but consequently it may be cause of his destruction. He should recite Holy Qur’an with deep thought and impress the evil of those works on his mind carefully; doers of which were punished very severely in the Past. It is incumbent that he should give up committing such works.

Moreover, he should understand carefully also and do those works, the doers of which were saved from the misfortunes. If there is any delay in punishment of wicked deeds, even that no chance of punishment comes in this life, nevertheless the Law of Retaliation will do its work. And if any wrongdoer escaped from punishment in this life, then after death in the next life, which is called “The Life of the Hereafter”, he would reach the recompense for the evil done.

Accordingly for the mankind, there is no way of salvation from afflictions save it that he should follow the Commandments of Holy Qur’an wholeheartedly.
