Commentary

‘Aawiii – (had any shelter), origin of this word is ‘a-wa’ya, which means “to take shelter”.

Ruknun – (support, pillar, prop), ruk-nun is the thing which provides support to other thing for standing firmly, for example – a pillar, a column; a post etc. ere it aims “a tribe”.

‘Asri – (Travel!), it is a word of command from ‘israa-‘un. ‘Israa-‘un means “traveling at night”. Origin of this ward is sa-ra-ya. Sar-yun means “to spread quietly”. A word saraa-yat is also from the same, which means “passing from one thing to another”.

Lot (peace be upon him) was appointed as a Prophet and sent unto a territory of Jordan. He married to a woman of that tribe, unto which He was sent, but she was also follower of own tribe. After observing tyrannies of the tribe, due to grief in abundance, Lot (peace be upon him) said: Would that I had a big tribe of my own here and I would have taken shelter of my people!

When the Angels (messengers – peace be upon them) saw that the wicked people have been teasing God’s Prophet (peace be upon him) severely, they said: (Think not about us, we are Angels; sent by Allah Almighty. Neither can they reach us and nor you. Then they said: You should depart from this village and travel at tonight along with your children.
