How to find the correct result

Chapter Naml”- (The Ant) - 27

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

62.   Is not He (Best) Who answereth the wronged one when he calls up on Him and removeth the evil, and hath made you viceroys of the earth? Is there any God beside Allah? Little do they reflect!
62.  ‘Ammany-yujiibul-muztarra  ‘izaa  da-‘aahu  wa  yakshifus-suuu-‘a  wa  yaj-‘alukum  khulafaaa-‘al-‘arz.  ‘A-‘ilaahum-ma-‘Allaah.  Qaliilam-maa  tazakkaruun.

Commentary

Muztarrun – (the wronged one, the desperate one), it is the Passive participle from the word ‘iztiraar (coercion, restraint, compulsion), which has been derived from zarar. Zurrun and zararun means “suffering, misfortune, calamity”. ‘Iztiraar means “to be restless due to any misery and ache. Muztarrun means “the person who has been besieged in any calamity”.

The Idolaters of Arab too had belief like other Idolaters that Allaah Almighty is the Greatest and the Worshipped, but they used to adore the Idols. They had set up this false thought in their mind by supposing as the Kings of the world that the superiors do nothing, instead of them; the inferiors do work for them. They used to give the same grades to the Idols which are of a Minister and Treasurer etc. before the Kings. However, if any disaster used to fell suddenly; as being entangled of any ship in a storm etc. then at that time they used to call only upon Allaah Almighty.

It is being asked from such insensible people: These Idols are deaf and dumb. Neither these can hear call of any person and nor can reply. When you yourselves become helpless, you invoke Allaah Almighty only; and He is; Who hears the call of every helpless and friendless, and if He desires; removes the calamity. Moreover, He bestows you power on the earth at the place of others. Is there any other who may have such power? While no, then why do you make others adored instead of Him? The actual matter is that you do not use your sense properly. If you have the mind at work, you will find the correct result, but you do not think.

61.  ‘Amman-  ja-‘alal-‘arza  qaraaranw-wa  ja-‘ala  khilaa-lahaaa  ‘anhaaranw-wa  ja-‘ala  lahaa  rawaasiya  wa  ja-‘ala  baynal-  bah-rayni  haajizaa.  ‘A-‘ilaahum-ma-‘Allaah.  Bal  ‘aksaruhum  laa  ya’-lamuun.

Commentary

‘Amman – {Tell! Who, Is not He (Best)}, in these five continuous verses, the word “‘Amman” has been used in the beginning. It is a collection of two words i.e. ‘am and man. ‘Am means “either, or”, that is to say, Tell concerning one more matter along with the first. We manifest it with the word “besides this”. And with the words “Is He not Best”, this word has also been explained.

Haajizun – (a barrier), it is the subject from the word hajaza, which means “to prevent”. Haajiz means “a thing which comes between two other things; so that those may not be mixed up. It aims “sweet water of the River falls down in the salty water of the Sea. It maintains its sweetness till long. The water around it; is salty, but this water of the river is sweet. This is another Portent of the Omnipotence of Allaah Almighty.

It is commanded: Can you tell that Who made the earth able to stay and live for the living creatures, brought together dryness and wetness; coldness and heat for the purpose that the things which have life; may live, and for their usage; vegetation; herbs and plants may be produced in abundance?

Allaah Almighty is He Who created mountains for making the earth of mud strong and made streams for supplying water everywhere. He is Who placed a barrier unseen between the two waters (sweet and salty) in the Sea, which remain separate from each other, and those waters maintain their taste separately. If anyone else cannot create such curiosities then how can he be a God? Even then most of the people ascribe plurality to Allaah Almighty and deny His Unity. If this is not fault of their sense then what is this? Moreover most of them have not correct understanding.

60.  IS NOT HE (BEST) WHO CREATED the heavens and the earth, and sendeth down for you water from the sky wherewith We cause to spring forth beautiful orchards, you had not the power to cause their trees to grow. Is there any God beside Allah? Nay, but they are folk who ascribe equals (unto Him)!
60.  ‘AMMAN  KHALAQAS-sa-maawaati  wal-‘arza  wa  ‘anzala  lakum-minas-samaaa-‘i  maaa-‘aa.  Fa-‘ambatNaa  bihii  hadaaa-‘iqa  zaata  bahjah.  Maa  kaana  lakum  ‘an-  tumbituu  shajarahaa.  ‘A-‘ilaahumma-‘Allaah.  Bal  hum  qawmuny-ya’-diluun.

Commentary

Hadaaa-‘iqa – (orchards, gardens), this word is plural of hadiiqatun, which has come out from hadqun. Hadqun means “to surround”. Hadiiqah means “surrounded compound”. It aims “a garden”.

Bahjatun – (beautiful, joyful), joy and amusement; which is acquired by looking anything, is called bahjat.

Tumbituu – (you should grow), it is a tense from the word ‘imbaatun.

Ya’-diluuna – {they swerve from the path, they ascribe equals (to Him)}, this word is from ‘adal, which means “to ascribe equal, to turn aside”.

After describing the Tokens of the Power of Allaah Almighty, it is being asked: Can any other do as it? Allaah Almighty created the heavens, the earth, rained water by means of clouds and produced gardens of various kinds of fruit. It is not in the power of anyone of you that you may cause to grow trees, then how can you produce fruit? Think concerning it that; should the God (Worshipped) be That Who is Creator of such all things or someone else? It is commanded: The answer is manifest, but what is the remedy of it that these people have swerved from the right path?

The Flight of the Prophet from Mecca to Medina

(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

For frightening the Idolaters from the consequence of opposing the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), three stories have been described in this Chapter:

1.   In the Story of Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him), it has been informed that Allaah Almighty helps His Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) against their enemies. Having trust in the Power of Allaah Almighty, Solomon (peace be upon him) warned to Bilquiis (the Queen of Sheba) clearly: If you will not obey our advice, we verily shall come unto your Country with such hosts that you will not be able to resist. And we shall drive you out from your dwellings with shame and you will be abased. Those days were good for Bilquiis that keeping the nature of consequence in view, she accepted obedience. Contrary to it, the people of Makkah gripped up their loins to oppose the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) instead of taking warning from the story of Solomon (peace be upon him) and Bilquiis. At last, the Muslims were commanded: Chastise them due to their enmity against Islam. So they were punished, abased and destroyed in the Battle of Badr.

2.  In the Story of Prophet Salih (peace be upon him), wicked people planned to attack by night and said: “Kill Salih (peace be upon him) and afterward if the heir demands blood money, then say to him that you have neither killed and nor witnessed his destruction. Eventually he would have to be silent against our great gang”. But their planning failed. Allaah Almighty saved Salih (peace be upon him) and destroyed the enemies. Chieftains of Makkah also did the same and did not take warning from the story of Salih (peace be upon him). They plotted: “Kill Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) by night collectively. His family cannot take blood money from all of us. They will become helpless against our united power”. Eventually here too, the consequence was the same that the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was saved from the attack of assailants and he flew from Makkah to Madinah. The assailants were abased and slain.

3.  In the Story of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him), people of his tribe prepared to drive him out from the township. But Allaah Almighty commanded to Lot (peace be upon him): Leave your township by night yourself! So he went out and the enemies were ruined.

The people of Makkah did not take warning from this story too. Ultimately, Muhammad, the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was commanded to migrate, and afterward his enemies were also conquered.

The Idolaters of Makkah did not learn from these stories, but the Muslims should learn that there is nothing save destruction as the consequence of disobedience of Allaah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

59.  Qulil-Hamdu  Lillaahi  wa  salaamun  ‘alaa  ‘ibaadiHillazii-nastafaa.  ‘Aaallaahu  khayrun  ‘ammaa  yushrikuun.

Commentary

Qaddar-Naa – (We destined), it is in past tense from the word taqdiir, which has been derived from qadara. Taqdiir means “to determine the principles collectively and wholly, and decide according to common principles in particular form”.

It is commanded: Wife of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) was punished according to following common principles:

1.  That person will be included in those; to whom one likes and with whom one has deep concern.

2.  As you sow so you shall reap. We judged according to it concerning her that she will stay in the company of those who remained behind after departure of Lot (peace be upon him) and his household. These all were such people who denied from obeying the advice of Lot (peace be upon him) and who had decided to continue committing their immoral habit while they were aware of their sin.

Their entire township was upset and Allaah Almighty rained upon them a rain of stones. They were warned and frightened clearly from His wrath. Their entire township had gone into the ground and foundation of a lake of water appeared there, which is now famous with the name of Dead Sea.

After describing the nature of the consequence of mischievous and wicked people, it is commanded: Praise be to Allaah; Who is the Omnipotent, and peace be upon His slaves whom He has chosen! Think after beholding the end of the disbelievers that: Is Allaah Best, or (all) that what the ignorant people associate with Him?

57a.  Fa-‘anjayNaahu  wa  ‘ahlahuuu  ‘illamra-‘atah.

Commentary

Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) abashed the shameless people of his tribe in such a way that they could not reply in return. There can be no answer of any reasonable matter. He (peace be upon him) described their stupidity and evil of their immoral works also in only one sentence, and put them to shame on their ignorance, and told them reasonable cause of their evil deeds. So they could not give answer of such correct advice. Rather, what is the cure of it that when some quarrelsome men cannot give reasonable answer of a matter, they begin to fight and create disturbance, and revengefully they commit any such work, which a mankind can never do. However, if he becomes mere an animal and beast of prey; then it is another matter.

It is commanded: The people of Lot (peace be upon him) had no answer to give except that they said: Expel him along with his family from your city, otherwise he (peace be upon him) will continue wearying you. They are the people who keep themselves pure, so they do not have any work here to do.

Think for awhile! How a great brain disease they had. They had begun to consider that chastity and morality were bad things. And remaining drenched in filth was agreeable to them. They were created in mankind form but their nature had become like hogs.

It is commanded: We destroyed those immoral people, saved Lot (peace be upon him) and his family. Only his wife was ruined along with her tribe.
