‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

15.  Say: Is that (doom) better or the Garden of Immortality which is promised unto those who ward off (evil)? It will be their reward and journey’s end.
15.  Qul  ‘a-zaalika  khayrun  ‘am  Jannatul-khuldil-latii  wu-‘idal-Muttaquun.  Kaanat  lahum  jazaaa-‘anw-wa  masiiraa.

Commentary

The state of those, who falsified Allaah Almighty, His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Holy Qur‘an, and what will happen with them on the Day of Resurrection, was described, that is to say, the people who do not believe in it that Allaah Almighty is One; Who has not any associate, and they belief in it that there are many others who are partners in His Sovereignty. Instead of paying attention towards His Message, they derogate its value by telling a lie. They spread false descriptions intentionally concerning Holy Qur‘an. The End of such people will be worst. The Fire of the Hell will cling them like frightful affliction and they will be suffering from the pain of thousand agonies of death, which will increase by degrees in every moment.

After describing about all above mentioned, it is commanded: Ask them! Is it better to be entangled in such afflictions by falsifying Allaah Almighty, His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Their Commandments OR dwelling in cold and comfortable Garden by obeying Their Commandments and avoiding evil deeds according to the Instructions mentioned in Holy Qur‘an? Say to them! For those who fear Allaah Almighty and ward off (evil), it is promise of Allaah Almighty that a Garden will be bestowed to them for dwelling always, which will be reward of their passing worldly life in obedience of Allaah Almighty, following the Sayings of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and engaged in executing the Commandments of Holy Qur‘an.

Other people will be suffering from the punishment of their evil deeds on the Day of Resurrection and sobbing in the worst condition due to Fire of the Hell, but abode of the obedient and believers will be this Garden of Tranquility.

Wish of praying for many deaths

Chapter Furqaan”- {The Criterion (of Right and Wrong)} - 25

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

لَّا تَدْعُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ثُبُورًا وَٰحِدًا وَٱدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا كَثِيرًا 14

14.  Pray not this Day for one destruction, but pray for many destructions!
14.  Laa  tad-‘ul-yawma  subuu-ranw-waahidanw-wad-‘uu  su-buuran-  kasiiraa.

Commentary

In this verse, condition of the severity of distraction and restlessness has been manifested too more. When the mankind becomes very afraid of any calamity, he begins to pray for death, because he considers that after death he will be discharged from the calamity. However, by his wish of death, it is proved that his pain and suffering is not bearable. It is the reason that he has been praying for death.

It is commanded: State of pain and suffering in the Hell cannot be guessed by praying for one death as it should be conjectured. Perhaps wish of many deaths instantly can draw a map of that trouble which the Hellish people will have to endure in the Hell. In other words; pain of the Hellish people is not too much less that it may be disclosed by the wish of praying for one time death. That is as much that by the wish of praying for many deaths at a time, its severity can be estimated. As though, affliction of the Hell is not like the last breath, but it is as “fall of many agonies of the death” at a time.

We should meditate in the matter which was pointed out in the previous lesson. Its simple example is as if a person has to proceed to any coldest place of Kashmir where he did never go earlier, and where he is present now; weather of that place is quite normal, then will he not hear the sayings of that person who has come from Kashmir and says: You should go to Kashmir with the arrangements of warm clothes, blanket and quilt etc. otherwise you will die of coldness? Now if this person does not hear the talk of that experienced person and says: You are telling a lie. Saying this; if he proceeds in ordinary clothes, then after reaching Kashmir; will he die or live? Any intelligent person will never move before making suitable arrangements. Can the News of a True Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and True Qur’an be false? Are our sense and understanding working correctly?

وَإِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ مِنْهَا مَكَانًا ضَيِّقًا مُّقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْا۟ هُنَالِكَثُبُورًا 13

13.  And when they are flung into a narrow place thereof, chained together, they pray for destruction there.
13.  Wa  ‘izaaa  ‘ulquu  minhaa  makaanan  zayyiqam-muqarra-niina  da-‘aw  hunaalika  subuu-raa.

Commentary

Muqarra-niina – (chained together), this word is plural of muqarran, which is passive or past participle from taqriin. Its origin is qarnun, which means “to join, to unite, to chain together”. There is exaggeration in the word Taqriin, that is to say “to fasten harshly, to chain many people together or to bind hands and feet of a person with his neck”.

Subuu-ran – (death), origin of this word is sabar. Subuur means “destruction, ruin, death, slaughter, depravity”, that is to say, they will pray for death due to confusion of miseries.

It was found from the previous verses that the Hell is a trench of the Fire. When the disbelievers will see and hear the crackling and the roar of the Hell, they will lose their senses. On the other side, when the Hell will see them, its crackling and roar will increase more than earlier.

In this verse, it is commanded: When those disbelievers will be chained together and flung into a narrow place of the Hell, then there will be no limit of their confusion, restlessness and pain. They will weep bitterly, cry and pray for death, so that they may get freedom from misery and pain. But none will die in the next life. It is the worst and most formidable picture of the Hell, after thinking about which, every mankind can lose his sense. But the mankind is ignorant who considers that it is only an imaginary picture, in fact nothing will happen. He does not wish to leave luxurious life of this world by involving in such fanciful matters.

Woe is on his sense. If it is necessary to travel on a dark and unknown path, and any experienced person says that “there is danger in this path. You should arrange for precautionary measures before going forth”. Then will any wise person ignore his advice and will he not get ready to save himself from the danger?

Our Lord: Save us from the troubles of Hereafter

Chapter Furqaan”- {The Criterion (of Right and Wrong)} - 25

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

12.  When it seeth them from afar, they hear the crackling and the roar thereof.
12.  ‘Izaa  ra-‘at-hum-mim-makaanim-ba-‘iidin-  sami-‘uu  lahaa  tagayyuzanw-wa  zafiiraa.

Commentary

Tagayyuzun – (to be enraged, crackling, violent, sounds of great anger, repeated small cracking sounds), origin of this word is ghaiz, which means “great anger”. This word has passed in Surah ‘Aali-‘Imraan.

Zafiiran – (crying with a full loud, the sound which comes out from the mouth when one is in great anger).

It is commanded: From which Fire they are being frightened, that boils up and is very terrible. Thinking about that Fire in this world is difficult. We should consider it as that is a collection of entire distresses and misfortunes. There is mass of heat in its breath and belly, which cannot be measured.

When that Fire will see these disbelievers (who have been denying the Day of Resurrection in this life due to ignorance) from a long distance; then it will fill up with great anger and begin to roar like a furious lion. The disbelievers will hear its roar, passion and anger with their own ears.

At that time, they will lose their senses. Then they will have belief that they will be thrown into the Fire which will swallow them and they will have to undergo all those troubles, from which the Scripture of Allaah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) had frightened them in the world. In fact, forming an opinion concerning Infidels’ grief, repentance and hopelessness of that time is difficult in this world. When we think about that situation, our hairs stand on end, and this prayer comes out from our mouth: Our Lord! Save us from that great misfortune. Amen.

11.  Bal  kazzabuu  bis-Saa-‘ati  wa  ‘a’-tadNaa  liman-  kazzaba  bis-Saa-‘ati  Sa-‘iiraa.

Commentary

Allaah Almighty appointed Muhammad as His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), bestowed His last Scripture (Holy Qur’an) unto him and commanded: Recite at first before the people around you that whatsoever is written in it and cause to understand them carefully, from which matters you have been prevented in it, that those are truly bad in favor of you. You should give them up entirely, otherwise you will be entangled in any great trouble, and then it will not be possible to come out from that affliction. Live in the world according to the Instructions mentioned in Holy Qur’an, so that you may succeed in the both worlds and get rid of the entire difficulties.

The people of the Arab to whom this Message was conveyed, were cheerful in their thoughts. Except a few reckonable intelligent persons, no one paid attention toward this Message. They got ready to oppose it, began to treat with contempt Allaah Almighty, His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and His Message (Holy Qur’an. In the beginning of this
Chapter, they were warned that they should leave their wrong path. Allaah Almighty and the Message of Holy Qur’an are true. The doubts which they produce concerning the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), are unreasonable.

It has been commanded in this verse: They have no proper reason of denying the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Holy Qur’an. The matter is only this that they do not believe in the life after death, reckoning of deeds on the Day of Judgment, reward and punishment. This thought has taken place in their hearts that there is no life after death and it is just like preferring loan on cash.

Allaah Almighty commands to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Say to them! We have prepared the Fire busting forth into Flames for them who do not believe in the Day of Resurrection. It is incumbent that every human being will be raised again after death on that Day and the disobedient people will be thrown into that Fire and there they will dwell as prisoners.

10.  Blessed is He Who, if He will, will assign thee better than (all) that – Gardens underneath which rivers flow – and will assign thee mansions.
10.  TabaarakallaZiii  ‘in  shaaa-‘a  ja-‘ala  laka  khayram-min  zaalika  Jannaatin  tajrii  min  tahti-hal-‘anhaaru,  wa  yaj-‘al-laka  Qusuuraa.

Commentary

Qusuuraa – (mansions, palaces), this word is plural of qasar, which means “a palace” (the house of a king).

Whatever Infidels of Makkah used to tell a lie in respect of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Holy Qur’an, was only for the purpose that their pomp should suffer no injury, which had been set up during a long time due to their ancestors. Under the passion of this selfishness, they had been confused because they knew that his (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) frankly Sayings would certainly bloom one or other day. They were neither so much courageous that after bearing their loss, they could support the true Religion, and nor they were able to foresee that lastly by obeying his Sayings, they themselves will reap advantage from beginning to end. They could not understand that his Sayings are not for his personal benefits, but the aim is to lead them; and by means of them to the entire world; unto the straight and right path of dwelling.

Holy Qur’an discloses their stupidity. It has been commanded in these verses: Dignity of the world, desire of pomp and show, wealth and property is deadly poison. It is better for the mankind that they should live altogether and behave equally with all people. They are being caused to understand in a strange way that while everything is in the possession of Allaah Almighty, if He desired O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! He would have bestowed to you more than their saying. You would have verdant, fresh and green gardens. The rivers would have been flowing beneath the trees. You would have magnificent palaces for living, but what would be better in it for the humankind? Better for the human beings is in it that instead of living in a better place than others, one should remain ready every time for obeying the Command of Allaah Almighty.

Selfishness makes a man mad

Chapter Furqaan”- {The Criterion (of Right and Wrong)} - 25

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأَمْثَٰلَ فَضَلُّوا۟ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا 9

9.  See how they coin similitudes for thee, so that they are all astray and cannot find a Way!
9.  ‘Unzur  kayfa  zarabuu  lakal-‘amsaala  fazalluu  falaa  yasta-tii-‘uuna  sabiilaa.  (Section 1)

Commentary

‘Amsaala – (similitudes), this word is plural of masala. Masala is used for the thing which is similar to any other, and that thing is brought forth for explaining about the original.

Maximum people of Arab used to try to lessen the importance of the Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) for saving their own way intentionally or due to unknowingly. Sometime they used to say: He invented himself false fables and named them Qur’an. Sometime they used to utter: Fables of the men of old which he has had written down so that they are dictated to him morning and evening, which he recites and repeats before the people. Sometime they used to form their opinion: You are following a man who has been bewitched, so he talks nonsense. Some people say: He himself is a sourcerer, a person who inquires from the Jinn and reveals unseen, or a poet; who according to them; was under the influence of any Jinn. Some of them said that he was a lunatic. In short, they used to determine that he has no place among the people of higher class.

It is commanded: Did you see that these people coin different similitudes for explaining before others concerning your position and wish to prove that you are equal to any of them? Remembering you with different names and coining different similitudes is the evidence that they have been confused and know that you are really a true person. They have been perplexed that what should they do?

It is obvious that their carelessness or stubbornness will be cause of their drowning. They have gone entirely astray. It cannot be hoped from such people that they will be able to set up correct opinion. Their selfishnesses have made them mad. They desire that their ancient way should remain established, and no one should listen to you. How can such people find the Straight Path?
