Quran Chapter 12  15 (Pt-12, Stg-3) (L-1481) - درس قرآن

Do not be frightened by difficulties

Surah Yuusuf (Joseph) - 12

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

15.  Then, when they led him off, and were of one mind that they should place him in the depth of the pit, We inspired in him: Thou wilt tell them of this deed of theirs when they know (thee) not.
15.  Fa-lammaa  zahabuu  bihii  wa  ‘ajma-‘uuu  ‘any-yaj-‘aluuhu  fii  ga-yaabatil-jubb.  Wa  ‘aw-hay-Naaa  ‘ilayhi  latu-nabbi-‘annahum-  bi-‘amrihim  haazaa  wa  hum  laa  yash-’uruun.

Commentary

‘Aw-hay-Naaa – (We inspired), it is a past tense from the word ‘iihaa’, origin of which is Wahii. Wahii means “Divine inspiration and secret indication”. Here, the aim from ‘iihaa’ is that “all of a sudden, it came in his conception strongly that there would be a day when I would be in good condition and I shall inform them about their misbehavior and then I shall forgive them”.

This thought was inspired by Allah Almighty Himself (without any means) in the heart of Joseph (peace be upon him).

Meaning of first sentence is that “when the brothers of Joseph led him off and they had decided finally to fling him into the depth of the pit”. Here, further description has been stopped and it has been left on the comprehension of the hearer of this verse for its completion. Then after awhile, He (Allah Almighty) commanded: We inspired in (the heart of) him (Joseph)! One such day will come when you will tell them (brothers) about their maltreatment, and even they will be so much unaware that the person, who is talking with us, is actually Joseph (peace be upon him), because, at that time, you will be a King of Egypt, and your brothers will be standing before you as beggars.

That, which would have been happened with effect from “the decision of brothers for placing Joseph in the depth of the pit” to “this thought of Joseph which was inspired by Allah Almighty in him”, surely it is that “they carried Joseph and threw him in the well”, this idea was produced in his heart all at once during the solitude of the well. Difficulties of the interior period of above mentioned both points have not been explained, because while Holy Qur’an instructs that every such individual who is in distress, should be patient on calamities, after it, It can never teach that you should rouse the passions of people by explaining about their past calamities, and describing about tyrannies of the tyrants, and excite them for weeping, crying and mourning willingly or unwillingly.
