Commentary

Miiqaati – (a set time), this word has come out from waqt. Waqt means “time, term, season). Miiqaat is the time which has been fixed for any particular matter.

‘As-saharatu – (wizards), this word is plural of saahir, which has been derived from sahar. Sahar means “magic”.

Any refractory person does not wish to accept pressure of any other. If someone desires to press him, he becomes stiff. If he does not have power to oppose, then he gathers his supporters, brings them into collision against his opponent and helps them fully in fighting.

When Pharaoh observed and thought: I am unable to face Moses (peace be upon him) myself, his Staff becomes a serpent as soon as it is thrown on the earth; and whiteness of his hand produces radiance in the eyes. I lose my sense.

By the counsel of his courtiers, Pharaoh sent his summoners in the entire country and gathered master wizards. Time and date of their famous and known festival was set for colliding with Moses (peace be upon him). It was proclaimed by the beat of drum in the township that a great strife between wizards and Moses (peace be upon him) is being arranged and a very tough competition will be held. Let us go to the field. It is a matter of our life and death. We shall have hope of living if our wizards overcome Moses (peace be upon him), then we shall serve them considering that they are our protectors. Come and encourage your wizards! As many people will be in the crowd; so much their courage will increase. We have a strong hope that our people will get victory.
