In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Commentary

There was no great king opposite to Pharaoh around his country. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) was appointed by Allah Almighty for finishing pride and vainglory of Pharaoh. He (peace be upon him) said: I accept that there is no powerful king in the world against you at this time. But it does not mean that the Creator of the world is also inferior to you and powerless against you. Behold! I am His Messenger and He has given me so much power that you cannot confront it.

After saying above words, He (peace be upon him) put His Staff (‘Asaa) on the earth. As soon as the Club was thrown on the ground, it became a large serpent and began to hiss.

In the meanwhile, He (peace be upon him) put His hand in his armpit, drew back and showed to Pharaoh, which began to shine like sun. Pharaoh had lost the power of speech due to fear of serpent, whereas it was another wretchedness that he was unable to see before the flash of His (peace be upon him) hand. He began to cry: Stop! Stop! Have pity on me.

When Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) heard above words from Pharaoh, he caught the serpent, which was a stick again, and the glitter of the hand was also disappeared. Along with these, He (peace be upon him) showed many other tokens but Pharaoh did not believe, and his chiefs also followed him.

In this verse, it has been explained that on the Day of Resurrection too, Pharaoh will lead to his supporters and chiefs, carry all of them into the Fire of Hell along with himself. Most evil is that place where they will be caused to enter. Whosoever arrived at its bank, will fall in the Fire instead of at the place of comfort and coolness. A curse is made to follow all of them (Pharaoh and his supporters) in the world, as well as on the Day of Resurrection
