Quran Chapter 17  40 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1808) درس قرآن

Allah is One without having any partner

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

40.  Hath your Lord then chosen sons for you (O men of Makkah), and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels? Lo! Verily ye speak an awful word!
40.  ‘Afa-‘asfaakum  Rabbu-kum  bil-baniina  wattakhaza  minal-malaaa-‘ikati  ‘inaasaa.  ‘Innakum  lataquuluuna  qawlan  ‘aziimaa.  (Section 4)

Commentary

‘Asfaa – (chosen and given), it is past tense from the word ‘isfaa-‘un, which has been derived from saf-wun. Saf-wun means “to be good, neat and clean”. ‘Isfaa-‘un means “to give a good thing”.

This verse guides the mankind unto perfect Cognizance of Allah Almighty and a great error has been mended, in which many people of the world; particularly Arabians of those days had been entangled. They used to consider after supposing that Allah Almighty was also like the kings of the world, and that He is the Greatest King, and under His supervision; little rulers manage the universe. Holy Qur’an determined that it was plurality, and It commanded: Allah is One without having any partner, and the entire management of the universe is in His Own Hand. One perception was that “like the kings of the world (God forbid) Allah has children also, and those descendants are Angels”, who were considered by the people of Arab - “daughters of Allah”.

This thought has been blocked strongly. At many places it has been described clearly that Allah Almighty has no descendants, because He does not have any wife. It is a very great violence that you determine Him Father of the children. In addition, because of shattered thoughts you dislike daughters for yourselves whereas you consider that the Angels are His daughters.

In this verse it has been commanded that it is biggest arrogance, because there is double insolence in it:

1.   Determining that Allah Almighty has descendants.

2.   Even such children from whom you feel yourselves aversion and do never wish that any daughter should be born at your home.

Even the ancient idolaters of the world used to accept that “One was the greatest Demi-god”, but they used to consider that the arrangement of the world was in the hands of His daughters, which were called by them “goddesses”.
