Glorified is God and High Exalted

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

41.  We verily have expounded (Our warnings) in this Qur’an that they may take heed. But it increaseth them in naught save aversion.

42.  Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): If there were other gods along with Him, as they say, then had they sought a way against the Lord of the Throne.

43.  Glorified is He, and High Exalted above what they say!
41.  Wa  laqad  sarrafNaa  fii  haazal-Qur-‘aani  liyazzak-karuu.  Wa  maa  yuziidu-hum  ‘illaa  nufuuraa.

42.  Qul-law  kaana  ma-‘ahuuu  ‘aalihatun-  kamaa  yaquuluuna  ‘izallab-tagaw  ‘ilaa  Zil-‘Arshi  sabiilaa.

43.  SubhaanaHuu  wa  Ta-‘aalaa  ‘ammaa  yaquuluuna  ‘Uluwwan  Kabiiraa.

Commentary

SarrafNaa – (We expounded), it is past tense from the word tasriif, which has come out from sarafa. Sarafa means “to change the form”. Tasriif means “to explain any matter by different ways”.

Liyazzak-karuu – (that they may take heed), it has been made from ‘izzakkaru, which has been derived from zikr. Zikr means “to remember”. ‘Izzakkaru means “to remember again and again, to get guidance”.

Which greatest and most important matter Holy Qur’an desires to teach, is “Belief in the Unity of the Most High God”. This result should come out from having belief in the Oneness of Allah Almighty that all powers and strength of the mankind should work collectively in His obedience. And no movement of the human being should be against the Command of Allah Almighty. Till when this equality of powers and strength does not appear into the mankind; till then he should consider that he is not firm fully on the Unity of God Almighty. In different Qur’anic styles, purpose of causing to understand about the Oneness of Allah Almighty is that by comprehending it; such capability of working collectively is produced in the powers and strength of mankind; without which his success is difficult. But the mankind does not care for his success and disregards the commands mentioned in Qur’an.

Therefore, O mankind: Use your sense! If there was any other partner along with Allah Almighty, then had he or along with him all others tried certainly to revolt from the Sovereignty of God Almighty. You should repent of polytheism. God Almighty is pure from having partners and His Glory is Most High and He is High Exalted above ascribing partners of Him.
