Commentary

From the stories of David and Solomon (peace be upon them), it was desired to explain the state of those who believed in Allaah Almighty and were thankful to Him, that they found good remuneration in the world and in the Hereafter. And the aim of describing concerning the people of Sheba was that there was no good for the people who turned away from the Command of Allaah Almighty and were His ingrate and they; at last; suffered from calamities.

After that, it has been commanded to the people of Makkah in this verse including those who adore others instead of Allaah Almighty and ask them for help. He describes: They do not possess an atom`s weight of ability in the heavens or on the earth to whom you claim as deities besides Allaah. Neither they have therein any partnership with Him, nor can they fabricate anything, nor are they able to give any benefit to any person and nor can they hurt someone.

Everything has been created by Allaah Almighty and He has full Divine Power over all things. None of your false deities has been appointed even as a servant of Allaah Almighty that if it could not help someone as a Master; it could be useful as an assistant of the Master.

Allaah Almighty does neither need any assistance in His any work, nor He took anyone’s help in the creation of this universe and nor He is necessitous of someone’s support in its management.
